Dancing in the Rain

green onions and blooms
"Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain."

I have to admit I spent the weekend feeling a tad sorry for myself. You see I was (and remain) sick. On top of that I had to work, fourteen hours on Saturday and a mere eight hours on Sunday...

{At this point in the conversation Mr. Peculiar would interrupt and begin rubbing his thumb and index finger together. That would be him playing a tiny violin; i.e. no sympathy. I can't complain. It goes both ways. I don't coddle him when he is sick either. We are all about bucking up and pushing through. Which is all well and good until you are in the middle of it and then it's not so fun.}

Anyway, on the lines of bucking up, I decided to cheer myself by compiling a list of some of my favorite things (Julie Andrews style):

and finally,
  • Sunshine, sunshine, sunshine!
And now I must go pack some sandwiches. We are having a picnic dinner at the boy's lacrosse game. I will be bringing some of my other favorite things ... this blanket and basket.

I hope today finds you well. Well or not what are you loving today?

you and mr peculiar sound very similar to me and my husband. there arent a lot of folks getting sympathy around here and we find ourselves constantly frustrated by a society which seems to not be able to buck up and push through it all.

i was in a crappy mood this weekend too. jays been working a lot and ive had WAY TOO MUCH one on one kid time, if you know what i mean. its frustrating but in the grand scheme of things i know i have nothing to complain about.

so even though im still slightly irritated, im happy im where i am. we love oregon and it was such a struggle for us to get here and things could have gone a lot worse, but we're here, alive, and we have food and shelter..so i cant complain too much. :)

have a wonderful picnic dinner. the weather is beautiful today.

May you feel better soon.

I love naps, flowers and big breakfasts (tell Mr D - my guy who is a bit busy at the moment)

I can relate to your "bucking up and pushing through" philosophy. Hope you feel better soon. It's no fun to be sick or working long hours, let alone putting the two together.

I really enjoyed your list of favorite things. I'll have to borrow that one for my blog sometime. I'd have to say that Julie Andrews and the Sound of Music are some of my favorites. So...

I'm loving that today is a day off for me and that I can spend some time with my girls, my mom, and my computer (time for some blog hopping =)
